2026 Retail Tariff Review Public Report
Summary
The 2026 Retail Tariff Review Public Report outlines the RA’s decision to approve new electricity rates that reflect a lower Allowed Revenue for BELCO than originally proposed. This results in a decrease in base electricity rates across all customer groups starting 1 January 2026. The review ensures that tariffs remain fair, cost-reflective, and supportive of Bermuda’s long-term energy goals.
Information
The Retail Tariff Review is a regulatory process conducted by the RA to evaluate and approve the electricity rates charged by the Bermuda Electric Light Company Ltd (BELCO). This review ensures that prices reflect only the efficient and necessary costs of providing reliable electricity service.
For the 2026 period, the RA carefully examined BELCO’s proposed revenue and cost projections. BELCO applied for an Allowed Revenue of over BMD $253 million. After independent assessment, the RA approved a reduced total of BMD $236.9 million, reflecting cost-efficiency requirements and consumer protection measures.
