The RA’s operations and decisions are guided by Bermuda law. Understanding these laws will help to better understand the RA’s actions and decisions.

Types of Legislation

Regulations are a statutory instrument, a form of legislation, made by a Minister as per the Statutory Instruments Act 1977. Regulations apply to all participants in the sector for which the Minister is responsible, which are the Electricity, Electronic Communications, and Submarine Communication Cable sectors.

A General Determination (“GD”) is a statutory instrument issued by the RA, pursuant to section 62 of the Regulatory Authority Act 2011, in order to carry out its regulatory functions.
