Effective 1 August 2026, the RA is restructuring electricity rates to fairly reflect the cost of serving each customer type, in response to a May 2025 Ministerial Direction. This is not a rate increase. Changes include fairer fixed charges, separate solar tariffs, and unbundled generation and network charges. Approved under the Electricity Act 2016, BELCO will implement the new structure.
